免死金牌 T-shirt design

I thought of desigining a t-shirt that says 免死金牌 on it. I thought of making one last year but I decided to take action. For those who don't know the chinese text read below:

In ancient China, there is a golden badge that is handed down by the King who earned it either by noble family or heroes that served it's country. The purpose of these badges are that nobody even the King himself cannot kill the person who holds these badges. But this badge can only used only one time...

Negadon: The Monster from Mars

I was watching the trailer and the film style is based on 1960's sci-fi films such as "Attack from Mars". At first I thought the film has Power Rangers props such as models and costume but this is a fully rendered CGI.

Paprika

"While the Japanese animation is trying to reach for the moon, the Americans are still playing in the sandbox." Paprika Trailer

Summary:
In the future, a revolutionary new psychotherapy treatment called PT has been invented. Through a device called the "DC Mini" it is able to act as a "dream detective" to view inside people's dreams and explore their unconscious thoughts. Before the government can pass a bill authorizing the use of such advanced psychiatric technology, one of the prototypes is stolen, sending the research facility into an uproar. In the wrong hands, the potential misuse of the device could be devastating, allowing the user to completely annihilate a dreamer's personality while they are asleep. Renowned scientist, Dr. Atsuko Chiba, enters the dream world under her exotic alter-ego - "Paprika" - assisted by Detective Kogawa Toshimi (the victim of bizarre recurring dreams), in an attempt to discover who is behind the plot to undermine the new invention.
Soon, dream and reality blend to a point of being indistinguishable from one another, à la
Perfect Blue.
-Wikipedia

That statement is fully true after I watched this film. It has amazing animation and the drawing style always amazes me because it kept quite close to realism. The story is based on dreams and the transition of different scene does make it effective. Though there is something I wasn't satisfied with, such as why did Chiba created another her Paprika? It didn't have Hayao Miyazaki or studio Ghili's certain charm that makes you feel satisfied with the film.

Pan Labyrinth

OMG I didn't see this film so good. I first thought it would be a horror film but it turned out beyong my expectation, the antagonist is so twisted and Mecerdes freakin rocks. considering it's my first spainish film.

Borat
Ok people keep talking how good this film is and it makes me feel lonely when they talk about it.
Borat does some crazy stuff and it's so anti-Jewish and anti-American.

Are Games Art?

I was reading whether Video Games are to be considered as art. The interview was with a guy named T.Charles Wilde who done a Bachelor of Fine Art degree, they discuss whether it is or not. Charles discuss that it is and the technology that is expanding allows the game developers to do the impossible.
I was surpise that most public view do consider video game as art when interviewing the public outside San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA).
Also they requested an expert art critic from a major San Francisco newspaper to come for an interview but he decline saying "Everything I seen in Game is a gag."
He also refuse to have an internet interview because he was "Un-inform of the subject" meaning he doesn't have any knowledge of the upcoming artistic medium.
Here's the interview:

Flow is a flash game made by a students and now it's going to be on PS3. Amazing vector and simplistic design, considering an independent developer for just making this game and now they're entering the main stream.
Here is the website: Have fun playing this underwater pac-man game. I know I did
http://intihuatani.usc.edu/cloud/flowing/

or try this looking at this 2D game:
http://www.bit-blot.com/aquaria/

So is Games is to considered as Art is up to your opinion.

Eternal Darkness ~Sanity Requiem~

OMG I left this game at the dusty corner, after my PS2 broke I played this game. I can't believe how the graphics are poor yet it was an under-rated game for the Gamecube. I mean when I look back at the character's polygon to our newer generation console, this looks quite bad.

It has a good narrative and good choices of characters. And I finally completed the game which I suppose to do when I had my Gamecube first.

It has a cool bits like Metal Gear Solid when fighting Pyscho Mantis with the whole input controller etc.

My Rating

Nintendo Tryout

Today I went to Tom's house to hang out and played a bit of games:
I use to be a Nintendo fanboy and it's been ages since I tried out the newer products.

I played this game and guess what!!! They have Asian Kung-Fu Generation loop & loop song, but it wasn't sung by the band...
Anyway I don't know the name of this japanese DS game but it was fun. There is an American version that has bands like Green day from what I played but it was entertaining since it's follow the beats by touching the screen. Nintendo is a step further in revolution gaming for handheld and Sony underestimated Nintendo so much.

Now lets further see Nintendo Wii:

It's a nice and small machine, I first thought Wii games arethe Gamecube disc but they're DVD discs.
I first played Zelda Twilight Princess. Very impressive game I got to admit but I felt that I can enjoy if I play at my own pace and at my own time. I still need to adapt to control since I'm use to play the old retro one.

Then I played Wii Sport and created my won Mii character. Wii sport contains several games such as Bowling,Tennis and Boxing.
I played Wii Tennis and now Boxing, serious these game work gamers body.

Wii has so much potential to make a good game yet there isn't any good games yet. Most third game companies are making games for Sony and Microsoft and it's making Nintendo having an image that makes game for little kids.
I'm looking forward to No More Heroes for the Wii, I'm expecting the same team who made Killer 7 to make a whacky game.

Dumpling

I was watching this last night at channel 444 film.

imdb summary:
"No woman can resist the temptation of potential rejuvenation - for some it's a dreamy blissful chase; for others a never-ending nightmare of endless pursuit. But Qing can afford it all. An ex-starlet turned wife of a prominent rich man, Qing is destined to have this dream come true. Qing uses a lot of connections to get to the mysterious chef, Mei to obtain her famous specialty dumplings. Qing is no gourmet but simply dying to recover her youth and beauty. At stake is her new "career" as a housewife of the rich. Mei's dumplings claim to deliver the goods. Mei, a former gynecologist, developed a secret recipe for rejuvenation which has allowed her to bid farewell to her career as an abortionist. Now Mei only serves desperate rich women like Qing. Mei understands a woman's need and she can fulfill a woman's desire -- all you need is a leap of faith to take a bite into her special dumplings with usual fillings."

It has a great concept idea of the film but I felt the film didn't go nowhere and it went in a big loop for example why did Mrs Lee has those wierd smell and rashes. It could be very true tat it happens in Hong Kong or in the world.
Tony Leung Ka Fai ate a premature egg which is the little chick still in the egg. I can see alot of Park Chan-wook inspiration work on Sympathy for Lady Vengence and Oldboy.

RIP PS2

Yes my annoying PS2 is broken so may it rest in peace.

It was fun having it around for more than 5 years.
It all happened when I was playing Okami peacefully and suddenly the game went crazy. I see characters polygon and it froze.

So what am I going to do:
1. Try to fix the problem with my DIY skills...
2. It's time to move to the PS3 format.

Resident Evil: Apocalypse

I watched this film tonight at channel 5 because:
1: I haven't seen it yet
2: Seen the first one
3: Need to watch a teen flick

Summary:
"The nightmare isn't over, General Cain ordered The Hive to be reopened, and in doing so contaminated all of Raccoon City, a city of the dead, with Alice stuck right in the middle. Now, along with other surviors, Jill Valentine, Carlos Oliviera and his Captain, Nicholai, they must fight to survive, to escape the nightmare that has plaqed Raccoon City. But now there is a new threat: Matt Addison has fully mutated into a seemingly unstoppable creature, code named Nemesis, who will stop at nothing until everything around it is dead, but it also has another agenda... "

They were many reference to computer games but this film didn't have that particular feeling I had for the first film. Paul W.S. Anderson is famous for ruining video games into films such as Mortal Kombat and Alien Vs Preditor. So hopefully Hideo Kojima won't be asking this guy to direct Metal Gear Solid film.
Hmmm they were many predictable parts within the film and there wasn't any scenes that I do like. I was disappointed in the end when Alice didn't go berserk besides from making a guy bleed in the CCTV just by staring.

Games in Easter/April

Okami

I can't believe how I under-estimated this game, absolutely brilliant. The cell-shaded graphics and characters do resemble Zelda Wind Walker but the way the game is design is very charming especially how the story is presenting through a scroll/fairy tale.
Loading time is really good, it's short and the gameplay is very simple and straight forward. You use the paint brush to draw certain action such as slice and Sun effect.
My favourite platformer game, so addictive and I was playing this more other 3 games I have.
There wasn't any Soundtracks that I have stuck in my head but I love the voice acting of characters "Ba ba ba."

_______________
Final Fantasy XII

I played an hour gameplay and I'm not use to the control of FFXII. I'm very adjusted to the traditional Final Fantasy. The architecture design of the world resembles very much like eastern countries such as India and Thailand, which looks completely different to other FF settings.
I really dislike the design of the main protangonist Vaan, he looks very gay. Though some design I do like such as Balthier, I still perfer Tetsuya Nomura characters design over Akihiko Yoshida.
Graphics is amazing, the cutscene, gameplay and FMV or CGI scene blended very way.
The game starts with Vaan brother who you get to play in the tutorial - it was very straight forward as Basch (supporting main character) as the mentor/guidence. The beginning shows the political battle between the two countries Dalmascaand and Archadian. You play as the defeated country Dalmasca.
The game system is very similiar to the Online game FFXI and also it has a License system similiar to the sphere grid in FFX.

My Rating
Graphics: 10/10
Characters: 9/10
Gameplay: 9/10

_______________
Shin Megami Tensei : Digital Devil Saga 2

The sequel to the first game, it picks up the story where the Junkyard has been destroyed and what happened to the crew.
The game does a good job to hybrid sci-fi data with religious concept such as god in the story.
The story explains all about the mysterious from the first game.
Has the same game system from the first game which is the same as Sphere Grid in FFX. Also the good thing about this game is that you use your previous first game to transfer money and techniques I think.

Graphics: 8/10
Characters: 8/10
