Films from Library
These days I have nothing much to blog about, but I borrowed DVDs from uni. And Nikonu.net has been updates recently so check it out.
I took out three films, all from different countries. A british, Korean and French film.

Found this funny comic strip, who knows whether this is true?
Scenes of a Sexual Nature (2006)

Summary:
"Sex and love. Some seek it, some need it, some spurn it and some pay for it, but we're all involved in it. Set on one afternoon on Hampstead Heath, London, the film investigates the minutiae of seven couples. What makes us tick?"
An interesting film which I quite liked, I like the idea of how different people's problem are in a common ground. The film was a low budgetting film which was cool, it had nice scenery. My favourite story out of the couples would be the old ex.
Oh yes the French chick was hot...
My rating:
7.8/10
A Tale of two Sisters (2003)

I always wanted to watch this but uni Library has it so yay!
Summary:
"Two sisters who, after spending time in a mental institution, return to the home of their father and cruel stepmother. Once there, in addition to dealing with their stepmother's obsessive and unbalanced ways, an interfering ghost also affects their recovery. "
Anyway this film is about lies based on the main protagonist Soo-mi (Su-jeong Lim, the female actress in 'I'm a Cyborg but thats ok', she's really into playing mental problems patients...).
Or the super natural within the house. You know what, I bet the director is playing us here...
Speaking about the director, I watched him commenting and he mentioned that he studied theatre Arts and his first job that he waits was a director...
My Rating:
7.9/10
Être et avoir (2002)

Summary:
"How do we learn to live with others and their wishes? Director Nicolas Philibert poses this question in a village schoolhouse in Auvergne, where Georges Lopez teaches 13 children, ages ranging from about four to 12. Against a landscape of mountains and farmland, from driving snow to rain to sun, the children gather in Lopez's warm and colorful classroom, to read, write dictation, cook, and sort things out. At home, the older ones do homework with parents after their chores. At year's end, they look ahead to the next, visiting the middle school and meeting the little ones coming in the fall. As they learn sums and adjectives, with Lopez's help, they also learn to live side by side."
I usually think that documentary film tends to be boring but this film changed my opinion, a single teachre teaching in the country side from aged 4-12.
It was about humanity, maturation and interaction with this film.
My Rating:
8/10
