I feel like updating my film blogs, I mean it's good to critize films to understand filming.
The film I like to start off with is
Letters from Iwo Jima:
Summary:
"The island of Iwo Jima stands between the American military force and the home islands of Japan. Therefore the Imperial Japanese Army is desperate to prevent it from falling into American hands and providing a launching point for an invasion of Japan. General Tadamichi Kuribayashi is given command of the forces on the island and sets out to prepare for the imminent attack. General Kuribayashi, however, does not favor the rigid traditional approach recommended by his subordinates, and resentment and resistance fester among his staff. In the lower echelons, a young soldier, Saigo, a poor baker in civilian life, strives with his friends to survive the harsh regime of the Japanese army itself, all the while knowing that a fierce battle looms. When the American invasion begins, both Kuribayashi and Saigo find strength, honor, courage, and horrors beyond imagination."
The film is directed by Clint Eastwood, this film is amazing. It is told from the Japanese side and how they cope with honour, Pride and friendship from the eyes of Saigo. The actor who played Saigo who I seen him in a drama called Stand Up!! which is similiar to American Pie but more of friendship theme, he had outstanded himself. I was amazed how convincing he was was with mixed feeling like sorrow and anger etc.
Another note, the filming of the battlefield felt realistic with the shaking camera and following the soldier from a third person shoulder view.

9/10
Atonement:

Summary:
"In 1935, 13-year-old fledgling writer Briony Tallis and her family live a life of wealth and privilege in their enormous mansion. On the warmest day of the year, the country estate takes on an unsettling hothouse atmosphere, stoking Briony's vivid imagination. Robbie Turner, the educated son of the family's housekeeper, carries a torch for Briony's headstrong older sister Cecilia. Cecilia, he hopes, has comparable feelings; all it will take is one spark for this relationship to combust. When it does, Briony -- who has a crush on Robbie -- is compelled to interfere, going so far as accusing Robbie of a crime he did not commit. Cecilia and Robbie declare their love for each other, but he is arrested -- and with Briony bearing false witness, the course of three lives is changed forever. Briony continues to seek forgiveness for her childhood misdeed. Through a terrible and courageous act of imagination, she finds the path to her uncertain atonement, and to an understanding of the power of enduring love."
Suprisingly I usually don't go for these films but theres somethine I liked about it when I watched the trailers. That is the directing of photography is mind blowing such as the scene where Robbie who travelled to the port with his comrades surrounded by citizens and allies and also when Robbie travelled through the country in the war.
I like how the film structured though I was spoiled by a friend what happened in the end but I was expecting a bit more from the film which is hard to say.

Superbad:
Summary:
Seth and Evan are best friends, inseparable, navigating the last weeks of high school. Usually shunned by the popular kids, Seth and Evan luck into an invitation to a party, and spend a long day, with the help of their nerdy friend Fogell, trying to score enough alcohol to lubricate the party and inebriate two girls, Jules and Becca, so they can kick-start their sex lives and go off to college with a summer full of experience and new skills. Their quest is complicated by Fogell's falling in with two inept cops who both slow and assist the plan. If they do get the liquor to the party, what then? Is sex the only rite of passage at hand?
This film is like an another American Pie film about frienship and sex so there wouldn't be an originally idea.
Lets see the comedy of the film is funny with several different characters with different style such as Evan who is a quicky funny guy while Fogell is the nerd funny and the cops are slow and has no sense of Justice.

7/10
Alien Vs Predator 2
Summary:
"A little town in the hills of Colorado will become the battleground between two of the deadliest extra-terrestrial lifeforms - the Alien and the Predator. When a Predator scout ship crash-lands in the hills outside the town, Alien facehuggers are released in the crash, and an even more evil creature - a hybrid Alien/Predator - is also released. A man & his son hunting in the forests near the crash site soon become the first victims of the facehuggers, and when a Predator receives data about the crash on his home planet, he comes to Earth. One at a time, the inhabitants of the town become targets of the Aliens and the Predator, including the local sheriff, a young female soldier recently returned from Iraq, and several teens. Though the National Guard is called in, they are unable to stop the deadly creatures, and a plan is set in motion to destroy the town with a nuclear device... "
My only concern is that how low can the director be by killing children and pregnant woman. Though in a sense it is realistic that both people will be involved.
More importantly when the female soldier explains that the government is lying, how ignorant are the people and they believe that going into the center of the town where Aliens are spawingn are being rescued.
Also the Predator is so stupid in the film and he has these highly advanced weapons and I felt the Alien are hell smarter than the Predator.
Alo the predalien was so confusing as it is so similiar to the Predator especially in the finally shown down.
Overall it is more better than I would expect as a sequel.
